The Records Unit is staffed by civilian personnel responsible for data entry, and the control, maintenance and retrieval of police reports and documents.
Police Reports & Public Records
Much of the information that the Canby Police Department stores is routinely available to
the public for a fee:
- Non-criminal accident reports
- Some property crimes reports
- Tow reports
- Basic information on arrested adults
There are exceptions under the law that restrict the release of some records deemed confidential or sensitive, or as exempt from public disclosure. Examples of confidential or exempt information include (but are not limited to):
- Elder Abuse
- Child Abuse
- Juvenile Records
- Physical and mental health information
- Information related to an ongoing investigation
- Certain personal information
The first step in the process is to complete a Public Records Request form and submit it to the Records Unit.
Complete the request form and mail it, along with a money order or check to: Canby Police Department, 1175 NW Third Avenue Canby, OR 97013.
To pay by credit card or cash, bring the completed form to our office during normal business hours.

Towed Vehicle Release
Vehicle tow releases are processed 24 hours/7 days a week: Monday through Friday at the Records counter – OR - after hours and on weekends by using the blue dispatch call box in the facility entrance to call an officer.
