Canby Burglary Suspects Caught in Cornelius

On February 24th, 2009 at about 12:14 pm, Emigdio Osiris Obed Mendez (DOB:050885)and Robert K. Jones (DOB:120266) of Cornelius, were led to the address of 263 SW 10th Ave. (Canby) by Pattie Jo Wheatley (DOB:051290) where they conspired to burglarize the residence of her stepfather, Andrew Wheatley.

Once the suspects arrived at the house, Pattie Jo Wheatley, got into a verbal confrontation with Andrew Wheatley, leading him outside to the front of the residence. Emigdio Mendez snuck around to the rear of the residence and proceeded to enter the house and take a Rolex Watch and HP laptop computer.

Andrew Wheatley observed Emigdio Mendez with mentioned items and gave chase, catching him in the front yard, where they began to fight. Robert Jones, who was waiting in the getaway vehicle, exited the vehicle and began to assist Emigdio Mendez with assaulting Andrew Wheatley.

Canby officer's responded to the scene and arrived after Emigdio Mendez and Robert Jones fled the scene in a Chevrolet Cavalier. Canby police were able to obtain information from Pattie Jo Wheatley that led them to Cornelius where they eventually took Emigdio Mendez and Robert Jones into custody for burlary and assault.

The Canby police investigation was conducted by Detective Chris Mead, Officer Nathan DiCenzo and Officer Dennis Swanberg. The Washington County Interagency Gang Team also assisted in the apprehension of mentioned suspects.
