Three Flags Seatbelt Blitz in Canby

From February 9th thru the 22nd there will be a seatbelt blitz (Oregon Three Flags Campaign Blitz)taking place in Canby. The focus will be booster seat use, adult/child seatbelt use and commercial motor vehicles.

The February enforcement blitz focuses on educating the public regarding booster seats and recent changes to Oregon child restraint and safety laws.

Consistent safety belt use is the single most effective way to protect people and reduce fatalities in motor vehicle crashes, according to the US Dept. of Transportation.

*Oregon's safety belt enforcement and child passenger safety education programs have reaped impressive success. Since the 1990 passage of and adult belt law, observed belt use among the motoring public has doubled from 50% to 96% while crash fatality and injury rates have both decreased by 43%. The average belt use reported by states nationwide in only 82%.
