Canby Police Department responds to report of vehicle crashed into Natural Gas Line

On January 18, 2008 at 11:35pm Canby Police responded to Hwy 99E near S Barlow Road in Canby on the report of a vehicle that had ran off the road and crashed into a natural gas meter.

Arriving officers located a Chevrolet Silverado pickup in the yard of 24670 S Hwy 99E. The vehicle was facing south toward the house and had run over a gas meter that belonged to Northwest Natural Gas. The officer found that the meter was damaged and leaking gas.

The residence was evacuated and Canby Fire arrived and took over the scene. The driver of the vehicle was not injured and told officers that he was southbound on Barlow Road making a left turn onto Hwy 99E.

The driver told officers that as he was turning he must have hit the accelerator too hard and hit a slick spot, causing him to lose control and crash.
