Canby Police arrest three suspects in stolen vehicle

On 10-8-07 at 6:17pm, Sergeant Scott Cunningham of the Canby Police Department stopped a stolen vehicle on NE 4th ave near Hwy 99E in Canby. Sergeant Cunningham originally saw the stolen vehicle driving in an erratic manner on HWY 99E.

The vehicle was a red and black 1989 Toyota Camry.

Sergeant Cunningham checked the vehicles license plate and found that it was a stolen vehicle out of Woodburn. During the traffic stop officers arrested three suspects:

IVAN G. MAKAROFF DOB: 2-5-65


SONYA G. MCKINNIS: DOB: 5-30-60

DRIVER: MICHAEL J. COX DOB: 5-13-88: RESIDES IN WOODBURN ARRESTED FOR: POSSESSION OF A STOLEN VEHICLE

PASSENGER: IVAN G. MAKAROFF DOB: 2-5-65: RESIDES IN WOODBURN ARRESTED FOR: UNAUTHORIZED USE OF A VEHICLE

PASSENGER: SONYA G. MCKINNIS: DOB: 5-30-60: RESIDES IN SILVERTON ARRESTED FOR: POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, AND A WARRANT FOR POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE OUT OF MARION COUNTY.

In the vehicle officers located many items that may have been stolen including an air compressor, suitcase full of various tools, DVDs, jigsaw and grinder.

The vehicle was originally red, but the front end had been painted with black spray paint in an attempt to conceal the real color. Officers on scene reported that they could smell the fresh odor of spray paint coming from the vehicle.

Suspect MAKAROFF had fresh black paint on his hands when he was arrested.

All three suspects were lodged at the Clackamas County Jail and the case is being referred to the Clackamas County District Attorneys Office.
