Patrol
Unit Protect and
Serve |
The Patrol Unit is the backbone of every police department. Patrol
is responsible for the initial handling of all calls for service.
The men and women within the Patrol Unit are committed to preventing
and combating crime by providing quality customer service. All Patrol
Officers are highly trained and adept in responding to emergency and
other calls for service, and are committed to a mission of preserving
the peace and protecting the public. Patrol officers are on duty 24
hours a day, seven days a week, and are usually the first to arrive at
the scene of accidents, crimes, or disasters.
Patrol duties include:
Emergency
response to 911 calls within the city limits.
Visible
police patrol.
Traffic
enforcement and accident investigation.
Criminal
investigation.
Response
to tactical incidents.
Service
of search and arrest warrants.
|
Aside from responding to dispatched calls for service, officers are
encouraged and held accountable for true problem solving efforts -
initiatives that make a significant impact upon the community. The Patrol
Unit continues to focus on the criminal cycle involving theft, fraud, and
narcotics related issues. It utilizes educational strategies to raise the
awareness of citizens and businesses, coupled with selective and proactive
enforcement actions, to impact and reduce such crimes. Uniformed personnel
assigned to this unit perform initial investigations and provide the
community the highest quality of police services. As in years past,
efforts are aimed at providing the highest quality service to all citizens.
