The Canby Police Department is dedicated to being responsive to the needs of the community in the delivery of exceptional police services.
The focus upon community revitalization gives the police department and each neighborhood an opportunity to develop a problem solving partnership that
emphasizes positive improvement within the neighborhood.
In order to facilitate this arrangement, the Canby Police Department is assigning each geographic area of Canby a Community Liaison Officer. The officer will
attend neighborhood functions and serve as a contact for the neighborhood and its residents. The officer will also coordinate the use of police resources within
the neighborhood to address chronic problems.
The Community Liaison Officer does not replace the regular police response to crimes and incidents that require immediate response. Rather, the Community
Liaison Officer is a resource for problems that may be chronic or pervasive within a neighborhood. Examples of this would be speeding traffic or structures
being used for illegal activities. In instances where residents are unsure of what can be done, the Community Liaison Officer can provide guidance and problem solving ideas.
Community Liaison Officers work patrol shifts and may not work every day, but they can be contacted by calling the police department at 503-266-4024 or by e-mail:
